The Journey

Mystery
He doesn’t know who he is, all he knows is that someone is trying to kill him. Assuming aliases in a attempt to remain one step ahead of his pursuers, enlisting the help of sympathetic and not-so-sympathetic strangers, he makes his way across Ontario, hiding in plain sight, piecing together the fragments of his past. Can he put it together before it’s too late? Mysterious figures are closing in, and a province-wide manhunt is underway for the man he might—or might not—have been. His enemies seem to be everywhere, even among the police. Who is the shadowy figure behind it all, and what does Dexter know that will drive them to murder? The Journey is a simmering thriller full of mystery and suspense and ordinary people doing extraordinary things in the name of justice.

Inspiration for The Journey
A month after my 75th birthday I had to retire because I couldn’t see to drive at night. I’ve always been a hard worker, so I knew I had to keep busy. But what to do?
I was sitting on my front porch on a summer day. The sun was suddenly eclipsed by towering clouds that told me a heck of a storm was on the way. I thought, Why don’t you write a book about a terrible storm? I did, and what I saw in my mind surprised me.
That first day I only wrote for 10 minutes, but I kept track to hold myself accountable. That first week I wrote for a total of 75 minutes, but now I was competing with myself. I always had.
I have now completed over 60 manuscripts: many published, and many more on my shelves, staring at me, rattling their covers, demanding to join the others.
